TransEra Model 650 GPIO 인터페이스는 IBM PC 또는 그 호환 기종(윈도우 하에서는 지원되지 않는다) 위에서 HTBasic for DOS 를 사용하여 digital peripherals와의 커뮤니케이션을 지원합니다. GPIO 보드는 16 logic programmable open collector 30V 데이터 출력 라인들과 16 TTL logic programmable 데이터 입력 라인들을 제공합니다. 입력 라인들은 pull up termination resistors에 묶이게 되며 5.5 볼트의 최대 입력 전력을 가지고 있습니다. Handshaking 라인들은 전송 시작, 전송 방향, peripheral acknowledge, peripheral ready를 구성합니다. 그 밖의 컨트롤은 peripheral reset 과interrupt request 라인으로 완성됩니다. 또한 There are also custom handshaking 또는 일반적 비트 레벨 I/O에 사용될 수 있는 네 개의 추가 일반 라인을 제공합니다.

TransEra Model 650 GPIO 인터페이스는 Hewlett-Packard Model 98622 GPIO 카드와 매우 높은 호환성을 가지도록 설계되었습니다. HTBasic loadable software driver는 Hewlett-Packard 9000 series 200/300 workstation과의 완벽한 소프트웨어 호환성을 제공합니다. HTBasic은 현재 TRANSFER statement를 가진 DMA를 포함하는 모든 GPIO 성능을 제공합니다.

TransEra Model 650 GPIO 카드는 호환 컨넥터를 사용하기 때문에 현재의 HP 케이블이나 새로운 케이블 가운데 하나가 사용될 수 있습니다. 한쪽 끝에는 컨넥터가 부착되고 다른 한쪽은 open wire가 부착된 matching ten-foot 케이블이 케이블과 인터페이스에 대한 다양한 요구들을 채워줄 수 있습니다.
